Tried several dishes here. They were all really good. The menu has pictures for every item that makes it easy to decide what to pick and expect. The best dish for us was the cumin ribs and the fried pumpkin pie was also delicious.

OMG, the best!!! What delightful experience! I specifically chose this place after I saw Anthony Bourdain's "Shanghai" episode. The Cumin Ribs were a dream, the sauted peanuts with French string beans perfect, crispy minous tasty, egg drop tomorrow soup just right and the service impeccable. Best part was the prices are super affordable. What a great experience. I will come back on my next trip to Shanghai! Thank you!

One of the oldest Hunan cuisine. Love the spices! Cumin beef is so good. Generous portion. Menu in English. Friendly and attentive staffs, explained the dishes.

This place gets a solid "5". Certainly order the dry rub ribs... suggest ordering 2 per person at the start & again near the end of your dinner so they will be nicely hot as you eat them. They are so good, enjoying them twice is well worth it. We also enjoyed spicy chicken & peanuts, as well as an amazing smoky-flavored eggplant. And you will know the meal is over when the watermelon arrives 🍉.

We were advised by a friend that this was the go-to place for traditional Hunan food in Shanghai. It was both good and cheap. He was right. There were three of us or we would have ordered at least one more dish. As it was, we did without rice and it was still a struggle to finish everything. The steamed lotus root stuffed with glutinous rice had a lovely texture, was slightly sweet, and very filling. We had requested medium spice level as we had heard that spicy means very hot. We are all big fans of tripe and this dish had the right balance between the richness and chewy texture of the meat and the pickled vegetables. We washed our meal down with some excellent chrysanthemum tea. Service was prompt and efficient. Our hotel was a 10-minute walk away but it's also not far from the Shanxi South station on metro line 1. We used WeChat to pay. I think they also accept credit cards
